To assist in our Porthmadog Hospice shop, replenishing stock, operating till and assisting customers.

ABOUT OUR SHOPS

St David’s Hospice has a network of shops across north west Wales, selling good quality second hand clothing, bric a brac and furniture.

Although we are a charity, we run our shops like the small businesses they are.

Thanks to the continued support of the community, the Hospice shops produce a vital stream of predictable, sustainable income for the Hospice.

The success of our shops relies on the generosity of excellent quality donations from the public.  This role is suitable for people aged 18+.

Exhibition Stewards – Welsh Women’s Aid

Forty Voices, Forty Years is an exciting heritage project being led by Welsh Women’s Aid in collaboration with George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling at the University of South Wales. The project aims to capture the history of Welsh Women’s Aid and commemorate our work to end violence against women, with a collection of oral histories, digital stories, exhibition and archive materials from women and services who have been instrumental to our movement in Wales.

The project will enhance our understanding of the violence against women movement in Wales, and improve community knowledge about violence against women and our work to prevent it.

We are seeking the support of female volunteers with suitable skills and an understanding of and interest in the issue of violence against women in Wales to work in local areas across Wales to support the Forty Voices, Forty Years Project Associate. Full training will be given. For more information visit www.welshwomensaid.org.uk/joinus or contact Mantell Gwynedd on 01286 672626 or volunteer@mantellgwynedd.com

Volunteers to act as Appropriate Adults for those held in Police Custody - Hafal

The aim of an Appropriate Adult Volunteer is to offer support to vulnerable adults who find themselves detained in Police custody.  Being an Appropriate Adult is a challenging, fulfilling and often rewarding role.  Volunteers must be over 18 but don't need previous knowledge of legal procedures or social work.  The role of the Appropriate Adult is not to provide legal advice but to offer impartial support and be a friendly face in the absence of a family member or carer to people who may be feeling frightened, bewildered, and confused in an unfamiliar situation.

Volunteers will also need to be able to demonstrate that they can:

Represent Hafal in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Form and maintain good working relationships with a variety of people.

Display honesty, integrity, and patience when dealing with vulnerable adults.

Be non-judgemental when dealing with vulnerable adults and understand the issues, problems, and difficulties that they may face.  This role is suitable for people aged 18+.
