A Parent Ambassador is a parent who has personally
experienced the 'Five to Thrive' approach in some way, and is so enthusiastic about its impact that
he or she wants to share it with others.
The role involves facilitating group and one-to-one 'Five
to Thrive' activities with parents and children, to enable them to enhance
their parenting skills and knowledge. This includes planning, preparation,
delivery, recording and evaluation of activities.
Parent Ambassadors will pass on their knowledge of the
'Five to Thrive' approach by:
1. Running 'Five to Thrive' groups for parents moving on
from Barnardo's structured parenting programmes.
2. Sharing 'Five to Thrive' sessions with parents
attending existing groups in local communities.
3. Providing one-to-one support to parents, in order for
them to build 'Five to Thrive' into their family environment and routines.
