Researcher Be'er Sheba WW1, The Welsh Fallen – Welsh Centre for International Affairs

The Welsh graves at Be’er Sheba were brought to our attention by someone who grew up playing in the graveyard which was commonly considered to be the final resting place of ANZAC soldiers.  As an adult our contact has settled in Wales and having become accustomed to the area and the Welsh language realised that many of the names and places on the gravestones are Welsh.  We are really excited to be involved in setting up this project which involves the research and recording, but also futureproofing of the project as our involvement will end in 2018 when Wales for Peace finishes it’s 4 year run.  Local volunteers are required who can provide continuity to this project which is also recruiting local university students.  The project involves further researching the information found on the grave stones to feed into the Wales at War website.  Additional findings such as photographs and letters can be uploaded to the People's Collection Wales website.  This opportunity is suitable for people age 18+.
