Online Library Volunteer - Seeing Ear

Working from home and in your own free time, you will help us add books to our online library. Our free online library provides books in a flexible format to support readers who need books in an accessible format due to reasons such as visual impairment, dyslexia or a physical disability. You will be editing, styling and formatting MS Word files and we will give you all the training you need for this which again can be done at home via email. Every book you go on to edit will provide another opportunity for someone who struggles with reading ordinary books to take pleasure from reading or get a fair chance at education. We are currently working on an exciting new project working with schools to support children who need books in this electronic format and we want to give every child the opportunity for a fair chance in education and to be engaged with learning. To meet the demand of requests we will rely on the support of volunteers more than ever.  For further information about this opportunity contact Mantell Gwynedd on 01286 672626 or carwyn@mantellgwynedd.com

Buckets for Boobs Volunteers - Tenovus Cancer Care

This October we’re holding over 100 pink bucket collections all across Wales in supermarkets, sports centres and town centres to support Breast Cancer Awareness month.

We’re looking for Buckets for Boobs volunteers to help us raise as much money as possible to support families across the country and help fund life-changing cancer research.

Just sixty minutes of bucket collecting can raise around £20 so that one of our experienced nurses can man our free Support Line for one hour. This means anyone frightened or worried about breast cancer has someone to talk to - we’re there for them 365 days a year.

By giving a morning, you can help raise around £50, which means that one breast cancer patient can have their chemotherapy session on board our Mobile Support Unit rather than going into hospital.  And by giving up a day, you can help raise around £240 which means that anyone struggling to cope with cancer can have a course of six one-hour sessions with one of our qualified counsellors.  For further information contact Mantell Gwynedd on 01286 672626 or carwyn@mantellgwynedd.com

Short-term Host. Cultural Exchange Days - Host Uk

Make the world a little friendlier! Spend a day with an adult international student, learning about their culture, showing them your local area and inviting them to experience your own home life.

Volunteer hosts invite students to visit for a day so the student can experience ‘real’ Britain, away from university and heavy tourism, and so the host can meet new people and learn about diverse cultures from around the world.

Choose how often you host, how many people you invite (individuals, pairs or families) and if you would like to meet someone from a specific country. Students and hosts will be matched on interests and availability by a Regional Organiser who will also help you sign up.

There are no specific expectations from a host visit, other than the student should be made to feel part of your family for the short time. So, if you’d like to enjoy an unusual and rewarding activity, meet new people and travel the world on your sofa, get in touch with Mantell Gwynedd on 01286 672626 or carwyn@mantellgwynedd.com
