Overcoming Obstacles Volunteer Assistant – WITH (Welsh Institute of Therapeutic Horsemanship)

To volunteer alongside the Overcoming Obstacles project staff to deliver Horse Agility and Therapeutic Riding sessions to individuals who are survivors of abuse, helping them to gain confidence and communication skills and become more involved in their communities.

Project Duties

•           Helping participants gain transferable and practical skills that will enhance their future prospects

•           Acting as a leader/side-walker, ensuring the safety and encouraging engagement of participants.

•           Encouraging strong, positive relationships in the life of each participant.

•           Coaching others in the safe and compassionate handling of horses. 

Administrative and Other Duties

•           Ensuring the highest level of confidentiality is maintained

•           Maintaining all relevant and appropriate equipment in excellent condition

•           Adhering to WITH’s policies and procedures at all times

•           Actively participating in the upkeep of the facilities and the care of the horses
