Events administration assistant – RSPB Cymru


The RSPB is the country's largest nature conservation charity. As a volunteer you will work closely with our event schedule and build upon your IT and communication skills. We will provide a variety of tasks to you as a volunteer, and your place in the team will be highly valued. You will receive regular feedback and references to support you in your future career.

Pop Up Museum Volunteers 12th – 18th June - Welsh Centre for International Affairs


To support visitors to the Pop Up Museum!  in St. Mary's Church, Caernarfon from 12-18 June this Year.  The event will bring a replica of the Black Chair to the town as well as a digital version of the WW1 Book Of Remembrance.  Visitors will be able to access information about Hedd Wyn, WW1 and view a digital version of the Book of Remembrance.  Some volunteers will also be on site transcribing the final names of Royal Welch Fusiliers into a programme that enhances the online version and visitors can be supported to transcribe a name important to them (if it hasn't been transcribed already) as well as enter any further details they have about someone involved in the war onto the Wales at War website.

Bucket Brigade fundraise at Tesco, Bangor – Tenovus Cancer Care


Tenovus Cancer Care needs you!  

We’re looking for some friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to help us with some bucket collecting at Tesco Bangor   

We’re going to be there raising money for Cancer patients and their loved ones on Saturday 24th June 2017 from 10am – 6pm.

Absolutely any amount of time you can contribute would be fantastic, even if you can only spare a few hours.  

This opportunity will give you the chance to meet lots of new people whilst raising awareness of Tenovus Cancer Care in your local community.

‘Gadget Guide’ Volunteer – Macular Society

Having a macular condition can make everyday tasks seem impossible. As a Gadget Guide you can have a huge impact on people's lives by showing them some of the simple and cheap equipment that is available to help.

Our training course will show you how to demonstrate gadgets like liquid level indicators at Macular Society groups and other local events showing how simple solutions can make all the difference.

New technology can transform the lives of people with sight loss but some feel intimidated by smartphones and tablet computers. If you would enjoy helping visually impaired people gain confidence with technology our training course will help you achieve this. 

You will need to be able to travel but we will meet all your expenses.

Our champions don’t sell equipment, but they allow people to try things out and tell them where to buy or get more information.

Volunteer Speaker – Macular Society


You can really make a difference in your local community by raising awareness of macular conditions and the help and support that is available.  Volunteer speakers deliver informative and enlightening talks to groups in their local area. You will need to be able to travel but we will meet all your expenses.

As a speaker, you will talk about your own experience of macular disease, whether you have md yourself or are a friend or family member of someone with the condition. 

Our speakers do not charge for the talks they deliver, the aim is to raise awareness of macular conditions and the work of the Macular Society.

Skills for Seeing Volunteer – Macular Society

 
You can really make a difference to people affected by macular disease by helping them to make the most of their remaining vision.

‘Skills for seeing’ trainers deliver free one-to-one training to people in their local community, showing people how to use eccentric viewing and steady eye which can make everyday tasks like recognising faces or watching TV a little easier.

As a ‘Skills for seeing’ trainer, you work with your trainee for up to three one-hour sessions, usually over a three month period.

You will need to be able to travel in your area but we will meet all your expenses.

A two and a half day course will show you how to train others in these techniques. You will have the opportunity to accredit your skills to Level 3 or 4 on the Qualification and Curriculum Framework. 

A Disclosure and Barring Service Check is required.

Barnardo's Stock Room Volunteer - Porthmadog

Working behind the scenes is as important as being on stage! As a Stock Room Volunteer, your key role will be to make sure that quality stock is made ready to go on sale in the store.

Our volunteers come from a diverse range of backgrounds and bring a wide variety of skills to the organisation. They come together to generate vital funds for Barnardo's work with children, young people and their families.

  • Looking through our donations to select and sort the quality stock for the shop floor.
  • Sorting and organising stock in the stockroom so that the area is kept in order.
  • Working behind the scenes to help to hang, size, steam and price stock.
  • Making sure all stock is safe and in working order.

VOLUNTEER BEFRIENDER (TELEPHONE) – Macular Society

There are many factors contributing to social isolation – age, disability, even rural isolation. Our Telephone Befriending Service aims to reduce the feelings of loneliness and isolation that can be experienced by people living with macular disease.  

We need Volunteer Befrienders to offer a friendly listening ear to those that need it, engaging them in conversations over the phone, talking about things that are of interest to them whether that is macular disease, hobbies or the weather. You may also need to signpost people on to additional sources of support if appropriate.  People wishing to access this service will register their interest via our Helpline on 0300 3030 111. 

You will be given the opportunity to attend a one day training course to provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake this particular role.

Volunteer Mentor/befriender – SOVA ACE (Achieving Change Through Employment)


Volunteer mentors are required to work with our participants to overcome social isolation and develop social integration. Many of our participants face language and cultural barriers having recently moved or taken refuge in the UK. The role of the volunteers is to support participants in overcoming these barriers by befriending and regularly meeting up with participants in an informal setting (e.g. coffee shop) to provide support and and opportunity to socialise.

Local Fundraising Groups – The Lullaby Trust

Bangor Lunch Club Volunteers – RVS


Volunteers are needed to provide transport for older people to Bangor lunch club. The club is almost ready to be launched but we currently have no volunteer drivers. You would be joining a strong team of 11 volunteer servers, a mix of students and locals. We have a group of older people waiting to attend the club but without drivers we cannot launch.

Casualty Simulator Volunteer - British Red Cross


Overview:

You will act out certain casualty situations at our training sessions in order to enable those learning first aid to 'treat' you, which can help boost their confidence and competence in a first aid emergency.           

Typical tasks include: 

 - Acting as a casualty within training sessions and annual assessments

- Acting appropriate to the condition/injury being portrayed

- Supporting the work of trainers

- The volunteering mostly takes place at weekends, and you may be required on consecutive days

STAMP Castell 02 - Caernarfon


Following the first successful Castell01 in 2016, STAMP Caernarfon is seeking individuals interested in working with the team on the delivery of STAMP Castell02 from Friday 12th – Sunday 14th May, 2017. It will be an exciting weekend showing work by artists in Caernarfon Castle and around the town walls that celebrates the town, its people, buildings and histories.  

STAMP Castell02 also coincides with Caernarfon's second Food Festival, which takes place on the same weekend, so there will be lots of activity and things to do for residents and visitors.

There are a number of opportunities for volunteers to get involved including: 

           meeting, greeting and guiding the public around the locations of the artwork; 

           ensuring the artworks are safe (invigilating) and describing the artists’ ideas to the audience so that they have a more enjoyable experience (interpretation); 

           helping to deliver arts activities with the general public; 

           helping to capture the experiences of visitors

Volunteer Macular Matters Distributor - Macular Society


We are looking for a number of volunteers who are willing to spare their time to help distribute our biannual newsletter ‘Macular Matters’. The newsletter helps us to raise awareness of macular disease and raise funds to help us continue our work. It is produced in May and November, so if you are able to spare some time in these months and would be happy to distribute it in your local area to places such as eye clinics, GP surgeries, low vision services, health centre’s etc this could be the opportunity for you.

Group Leader - Macular Society


We need Volunteer Group Leaders to help us to set up and run local Macular support groups and to establish an active committee to ensure the group is run successfully. You can really make a difference in your community by helping with a local Macular support group that meets the needs of people affected by Macular Disease (MD). If you want to help us in our goal of raising awareness of MD and become part of a growing number of support groups and volunteers that help people living with Macular Disease, then this could be the opportunity for you. 

Time commitment is 2-4 hours a month.
