You can really make a difference to people affected by
macular disease by helping them to make the most of their remaining vision.
‘Skills for seeing’ trainers deliver free one-to-one
training to people in their local community, showing people how to use
eccentric viewing and steady eye which can make everyday tasks like recognising
faces or watching TV a little easier.
As a ‘Skills for seeing’ trainer, you work with your
trainee for up to three one-hour sessions, usually over a three month period.
You will need to be able to travel in your area but we
will meet all your expenses.
A two and a half day course will show you how to train
others in these techniques. You will have the opportunity to accredit your
skills to Level 3 or 4 on the Qualification and Curriculum Framework.
A Disclosure and Barring Service Check is required.
